The Organizers
The event is organized primarily by CMMB Staff: Ashley Crust (band director, CMHS), Heather Haigh (band front), and Justin Mazzulla (percussion).

Ashley Crust (Co-Band Director) earned her B.S. in Music Education (2000) and her master’s degree in Music Education (2014) from Lebanon Valley College of Pennsylvania. Ashley began teaching in the Keystone Central School District in 2006, where she currently teaches middle and high school instrumental music. Before joining the KCSD team, she taught band in the Shenandoah Valley School District. Ashley is the director of the Sugar Valley Community Band and has been involved in several other area ensembles over the years, including the Central Pennsylvania Community Band, the Bak-2-Skool Jazz Band, and the Williamsport Flute Choir. She is also a retired member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s 28th Division Band, where she directed the Ceremonial Band and played flute and piccolo. Ashley lives in Avis and occasionally plays host to her daughter, Rachel, who is in her fourth year at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
Heather Haigh (Co-Band Director, band front) is a 1999 graduate of Rowan University, with a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance. Heather has performed in numerous groups in the Philadelphia area, and taught elementary music in the Pemberton Township School District in NJ. She now teaches choir and musical theatre at Jersey Shore High School and performs with the Sugar Valley Community Band on French horn. Heather is an active advocate for music education, and works hard to keep programs going in both districts. She enjoys being a co-director of the marching band at CMHS with her sister, Ms. Ashley Crust. Heather is the mom of two young musicians, Andrew (20, trumpet) and Kyle (16, percussion). The Haighs enjoy performing together whenever they get a chance, as well as biking, kayaking, gaming, and going on vacation. Justin Mazzulla (Percussion Instructor) is a graduate of Bucktail Area High School and Lock Haven University. He has served as Percussion Instructor with Central Mountain Marching Band since 2019. While in high school he was an active member in drama and music, performing in several groups. Currently, Justin is a member of Sugar Valley Community Band where he plays baritone saxophone. He is a music and education advocate and works to support all aspects of the instrumental music program at CMHS. Justin currently lives in Renovo. |
